Game Review: Jubeat Saucer

Alright, I back once again to do another review. This time it's Jubeat Saucer, another arcade game.

This is yet another innovative music game by Konami.

The game is simple: the notes appear on the the buttons. You press them according to the beat. Sounds easy enough?  Not quite.

Complex patterns. Hard to hit notes. Fast notes. Jubeat tests your reflexes to the maximum.

In this instalment of Jubeat, you work as a chef. By playing songs, you can earn ingredients. At the end of three songs, all the ingredients that you have earned will be cooked into food that you will feed gourmet with. If you are able to make them satisfied, you get to unlock a song. Typical unlock system if you ask me.

Plot: Not really any plot in this one.

Graphics: They have solved a major FPS lag from the previous game, Jubeat Copious, and everything just looks smoother and sharper. Props to the team working on this game, great job on the graphics.

Music: As compared to Sound Voltex, the music in Jubeat Saucer are mostly mainstream Japanese music. From PONPONPON to only my railgun, the types of songs in Jubeat are just too many to count. There is a total of 282 songs in Jubeat right now, with songs being added every month.

Gameplay: The feeling of playing Jubeat is kinda new, as there is hardly any game in the market that is like this. However, what I feel is that, the game gets very repetitive after certain point of time.

Overall, Jubeat is a game worth trying but not one to stick around for a long time.

Game Review: Koumajou Densetsu II: Stranger's Requiem

A sequel to Koumajou Densetsu Scarlet Symphony which came out in 2009. A doujin game created by Frontier Aja. It is a combination of Touhou and Castlevania.
The game plays like a Castlevania game where you move through maps and fight monsters along the way and at the end of the stage there is a boss. However unlike Castlevania there are Touhou elements like bosses using danmaku (curtain fire) attacks in addition to melee attacks. You play as Sakuya Izayoi and she plays like Alucard from Castlevania. There are four difficulty options in the game, easy, normal, hard and phantasm. Easy can be completed without retries but to completed hard and phantasm mode, alot of time is needed to memorize the stages layout and boss patterns.

After playing through a stage you may get a partner as an assist sub weapon.Sub weapons consume a resource called souls which can be obtained by killing monsters or destructible items in the stage.  Three sub weapons can be selected before the start o the next stage. There is also a magic bar system like in Castlevania Symphony of the Night. The magic bar is used to fly for a while and while flying you can use and aerial attack which uses up the magic bar. Flying is necessary to avoid certain obstacles or bosses danmaku patterns.

The games music features well remixed music of the Castlevania series with some elements of Touhou music mixed into them. There are also vocal songs featured.

The best part of the game is that it features voice acting by professional Seiyuu some with notable voice actors such as Miyuki Sawashiro(Canaan, Saeko Busujima), Aya Endo (Sheryl Nome, Miyuki Takara, Eclair), Satomi Sato (Ritsu Tainaka, Manami Tamura), Haruka Tomatsu (Lala Satalin Deviluke, Asuna Yuuki).

This game is a great game to play even if you have never played Touhou or Castlevania before. It is very challenging and fun to play.

RUNNING MAN

                             RUNNING MAN REVIEW

Genre: urban action variety, comedy

Synopsis:

Running man is a South Korean variety show. It is classifies as a urban action variety; a never before seen new genre on variety shows. On the show they have permanent members that are on every week. There are almost different guests that are on every week. Guests will have to complete different missions in order to win the race. The location every week is different sometimes in universities and museums.

Thoughts:

Running man is a great variety to watch when you’re bored or stressed. This show is full of entertainment and you just never get tired of it. As for me when friend around me told me to watch it I would always say that it just people running around. Later when I saw celebrities I like were on the show I immediately watched that episode. During that episode I was laughing so hard that i kind of forgot i have to print something for school. After watching that episode I kept on searching for more and I couldn’t stop, so I spent my whole day watching it. This show is very unique and different from others they would have guests on and complete missions, the locations were always different too, so beautiful sceneries and attraction can also be seen. When I watch running man I find it funny, nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time. Especially when they play hide and seek, so two teams takes turn being the chaser and hider after 10 minutes. The time always changes, when they are finding people they have to rip their name tag off their back to eliminate them. The team with the last member standing wins. The rating for this variety is 10/10. MUST WATCH!!!

Anime Recommendation: Toaru Kagaku no Railgun

Hey guys! I'm back again with another anime recommendation, this time is To aru Kagaku no Railgun (A Scientific Railgun)

This is a side story to Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index)
Set in Academy City, a technologically advanced academic city located at western Tokyo which studies scientifically advanced superhuman students with powers, this anime follows an electromaster called Misaka Mikoto and her friend with their lives in this amazing city.

Plot: Misaka Mikoto, despite being part of the most powerful espers in Academy City, also has a more carefree side to her life. She has to fend off constant "love attacks" from devoted friend and roommate Shirai Kuroko and she needs to maintain the image of being perfect as the Ace of Tokiwadai Middle School. However, with various problems arising in Academy City — both noticeable and out from plain sight — she moves as Academy City's unseen savior, using her powers to save people, loved ones and strangers alike. (Source: Toaru Wikia)

Characters: All of the main characters in this anime have very distinct personalities, and they have managed to bring that out qualities that allow us to understand the characters even further. An example would be Misaka, the protagonist. She is seen to be the third most powerful esper, however, she is just like any other girls. She takes it upon herself to solve problems, as she is one of the top tier espers.

Animation: One of the most amazing animation seen, even when compared to animes that are running now. Dust, rocks, wind, light, everything drawn to perfection.

I recommend this anime because of its perfect mix of comedy and seriousness.
On one side, we have Kuroko trying to get her way with Misaka, while on the other, we have Misaka fighting a huge monster.
And of course, also because the characters are cute :3

Anime First Impressions: Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei

Picking up new animes always made me kind of happy. This one was not an exception.

Upon a friend's recommendation, I decided to give this anime a try. The art looks good too. I thought this could be a comedy or something. Never have I been so wrong.

Synopsis: A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you'll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?

That didn't sound too happy, did it? It sounded like Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) and that wasn't a very happy anime either. Nevertheless, I pressed on to watch the first episode. \

SPOILERS AHEAD READ WITH CAUTION

The show starts off with a bear, half white half black (picture above for reference), and a guy, blindfolded and tied to a chair. A kind of techno(?) music plays in the background, those that you hear in arcades or something. The chair moves into a rocket and the words "SPACE JOURNEY" appears. The rocket starts to take off, destroying the floors above and speeds up. Upon hitting the moon, it flips and descends at rocket speed (:D) and crashes at its original position. The hatch opens up, to reveal a skeleton inside. The bear then starts giggling to himself.

The main character is introduced after the scene. Naegi Makoto.

He talks about how the school is a very prestigious school and how he is just a normal person. The moment he steps pass the school gates he passes out. Waking up in a weird room, he reads that students are supposed to assemble at the gym. He then meets the rest of the 14 students, all of which specialise in something, be it being a model, programmer, all of which have a title. Naegi is given the title, Super High School Lucker.

(Speciality reads: Super High School Girl)

The headmaster, the bear from the first scene, appears from a box and introduces himself as Monobear (Monokuma in Japanese). He explains that the students are to live here (in the school) forever, until they graduate. This also means, they have to kill someone without being found out. (In all honesty, I find this part screwed up)

One of the students get riled up and grabs Monobear. Monobear explains that harming the headmaster is against the rules and a weird beeping sound can be heard. Another student tell him the throw the bear away, which he does. And moments after that, Monobear explodes! AND he appears again from the box.

And of course, a mystery anime would need a classy opening.

The show continues and it goes on with the students rejecting this idea of killing another. They would spend the next few days searching the school grounds in order to try and find an alternative exit.

Monokuma notices that no one has any particular motive to kill anyone. He shows each student a personalized DVD motivating them to try and escape at any cost. All the students watch the video. In Naegi's DVD, it is a video of his family allegedly being put in danger. Maizono freaks out after the watching her video, and Naegi calms her down, promising her that he will save them both no matter the cost.

Now, just reading this won't let you feel the suspense and mystery in the show itself. Not only does it give a chill by just reading the synopsis, the show is accompanied with upbeat, techno and eerie music.

In my honest opinion, it's like a less scary Another (for those who haven't watch it, please do) mixed with Mirai Nikki (another must-watch) and Persona (a long-standing series known for its unique stories). While this may not appeal to the general audience, I do recommend people to watch this anime. This, along with a few others, could be the best of this season's anime.
